The Crackups are a band of extremes. Insanely fast, but tight as a duck's ass. Extremely loud but with a keen sense of melody. Featuring members from Double Veterans, Priceduifkes, Psycho 44, they gained notoriety through fiercely intense live shows and a defiant punk attitude. After reaching the finals of Belgium's biggest talent hunt Humo's Rock Rally and releasing a bottle rocket of a debut album with 'Animals on Acid', they suddenly disappeared from the scene in 2012. Nowthey are throwing themselves headfirst into a comeback, the likes of which this land has never seen... expect sounds inspired by The Stooges, Black Flag and Devo, mashed into something fiercely unique and original.
Founded by singer-composer Lee Swinnen, the Belgian threesome Double Veterans get inspired in equal measure by the great psychedelic bands of the '60s and '70s as they are by the contemporary scene. Their debut EP ‘The Brotherhood of Scary Hair and Homemade Religion’ and following singles introduced the world to their unrefined but catchy brand of garage rock, but the full debut album ‘Space Age Voyeurism’ (2016) showed a band quickly growing into a versatile and idiosyncratic sound. After a brief sabbath to explore other musical interests, the Veterans are now back with a whole number of nefarious plans up their sleeve!
When your debut album immediately invokes namedropping like Kyuss, Red Fang and Soundgarden, you know you're onto something good. Fire Down Below hails from Ghent, but their ambition has brought them far beyond the country bourders, signing with California's Ripple Music, supporting heavyweights like Stoned Jesus and playing shows from Germany to the UK. You like fuzzy and trippy stoner? Meet your future new favorite band.
These guys don't make any excuse for themselves - heavy riffs and psychedelic vibes are the front and center on the agenda. Another strong proponent of the Belgian psychedelic guitar underground, Grotto deals in slightly proggy instrumental spacerock hymns that completely suck you into the vortex. Elder's Nick Disalvo is a fan, and signed them to the Stickman Records imprint. For more proof, look no further than their recent passage at Desertfest Antwerp '19.
After an insane roadtrip, The Glücks got together as a couple and as a band. Alek and Tina bonded over a love for all things dirty and fuzzy: The Cramps, Stooges, Pebbles/Nuggets garage and punk. Add to that an urge to get away from the “shithole” they grew up in, and you’ve got the recipe for some good infernal rock’n’roll. Even with the mother of all hangovers, the band nailed a full album of eight songs in 2 days. The second album topped that with 11 songs recorded in the same amount of time. 'Run Amok' from 2018 is their most accomplished outing to date, a vibrant heartfelt piece of work filled to the brim with songs for the underdogs, the generation denied... the generation undefined.
