A true Japanese experimental super group, Saicobab’s spiraling 'grindcore raga' will awaken you to the realm of the super-organism that envelopes the ego. Performing since 2001 the ensemble has expanded beyond their initial improvisations and into an ensemble as formidable in talent as it is in originality. Saicobab masterfully blends traditional Indian music with melodies and unexpected rhythms, using unorthodox instrumentation to create utterly distinct modern ragas. The band consists of renowned sitar player Yoshida Daikiti and YoshimiO (from the mighty Boredoms!), together with bassist Akita Goldman (Soil & "Pimp" Sessions) and gamelan player Tomoyuki Hamamoto.
Over the previous decade, Yonatan Gat became known as one of the world's top performers as founder and guitarist of Monotonix, hailed by SPIN as "the most exciting live band in rock’n’roll,” with concerts that quite literally destroyed the border between performer and audience. Banned from playing shows in his home country of Israel and refusing to take part in its mandatory military service, Gat relocated to New York City. He began recording and performing as a bandleader, setting up increasingly ambitious projects that are all manifestations of a ritualistic, improvised, and shamanic musical exploration. Gat has proved himself to be one of the most fascinating experimentalists of our time.
